"BLACK SATURN" is a fantasy BJD (ball-jointed-doll) fashion brand based in South Korea for the global market. We make and sell limited edition menswear, primarily for dolls of size 73~75cm or larger. We design fantasy outfits inspired by myths around the world incorporating motifs from works of literature, turn the dreams that cannot be reached into reality, and explore the depth of soul that clothes can contain.
"BLACK SATURN"是以韩国为基础，在世界舞台上活动的魔幻玩偶服装品牌, 主要限量制作/销售73~75cm以上的男士服装。
我们以世界神话和梦幻虚构故事为主题，设计魔幻服装，将无法触及的梦想从现实世界中实现，探索衣服可蕴含的灵魂深度。

I have been exploring everything about fashion and clothing for over a decade now. I have worked with all kinds of media, from various types of fabric to shiny accessories, a carpenter’s boots with worn soles to an artist’s shirt with stained cuffs. My love for ‘fashion’ has always been furthered by the stories they held within – such as clothing which entails a person’s life and values. As such, I was gradually attracted to the fashions of fictional characters. Batman’s cool suit taught me that fashion can play a significant role in representing superheroes and their stories and lives. At the same time, I felt regretful that these cool suits only existed in fictional lives and augmented worlds. It made me think, ‘How amazing would it be if we can all experience these cool suits in real life?’, and so I started striving to make it possible. In doing so, I chose my lovely dolls as partners to achieve this goal.
Dolls are pieces of art that have long since been a part of human history, and they embody the desires of the owner. They are ‘objects’ that not only resemble humans but also can go beyond the realms of realism. Likewise, their fashion usually imitates that of human fashion, but it can exceed the possibilities of human fashion and creativity. This made me wonder what the limits would be for fashion to express ones’ dreams. My adventure started with this question in mind when ‘doll’s fashion’ came to me as a keyword for possibilities rather than limitations.
「 We are all born from star dust, thus we yearn to return to the star. 」
Many people long for their place of origin, the star. This longing aided in the naming of each star and planet in the solar system with gods. Thus, dreams were able to go beyond human life and shine even out in space. Although we cannot reach space ourselves, perhaps our imagination can? Maybe our art can make this possible? “BLACK SATURN” is derived from these hopes and dreams. I wish to show you the dreams I hold through the fantastic beings that harmonize with humans, the colors of the universe and its beautiful stars which are the principal of all things, and the ultimate love of my life, fashion.

作为服装的探索者，对包裹身体的一切都感兴趣，不知不觉已经数十年了。我不仅将各式各样的面料，还有闪闪发光的装饰、鞋底被磨掉的木匠皮鞋和画家斑驳的衬衫袖口等“时尚”作为一个故事一直喜爱着。对于喜欢承载着穿着的人生生活和哲学的衣服的我来说，自然而然地迷上了虚拟人物的服装，看着蝙蝠侠帅气的套装，了解到服装可以成为众多英雄们生活的象征。同时，对于这些帅气的服装存在虚拟空间而感到遗憾。“如果能在现实中看到这些梦幻般的服装该有多好啊？”我想实现这个愿望，为了实现梦想，我选择了我心爱的玩偶作为合作伙伴。
玩偶是人类历史悠久的艺术作品，是承载所有者愿望的创作作品。虽然与人的形象相似，但不拘泥于现实的人体表现，虽然与人类同行，但同时也是超越人类世界的物体。玩偶的服装也是从模仿人类服装出发的，但超越人类服装所具有的局限，可以提出新的可能性。
'那么，服装能够表现的梦想的局限在哪里呢？'
当“玩偶服装”这个关键词不是局限而是可能性时，我决定带着这个久远的问题去旅行。
「 我们全部出生于星尘，因此我们奔向星星。」
很多人想念我们的故乡星星。这种思念给太阳系的行星和星星取上了神的名字，梦想的方向标也闪耀到了跨越人类世界的宇宙。虽然不能直接去那么遥远的地方，但我们的想象力应该可以接近那里吧？“BLACK SATURN”是从这种希望出发的。我们想通过与人类和谐的人界外存在、万物之源-宇宙的颜色和美丽的星星，以及一生喜爱的服装，展现我所拥有的梦想。

옷의 탐구자로서 몸을 감싸는 모든 것들에 관심을 가진 지 어느덧 수 십 년이 되어갑니다. 각양각색의 원단은 물론이고, 반짝이는 장신구와 화가의 얼룩진 셔츠 소매부리 등 ‘패션’을 하나의 이야기로써 사랑해 왔습니다. 입은 사람의 삶과 철학을 담은 의상을 좋아했던 저는 자연스레 픽션 캐릭터들의 의상에 빠졌고, 배트맨의 수트를 보며 의상이 수많은 영웅들의 삶을 대변하는 상징이 될 수 있다는 것을 알게 되었습니다. 동시에, 이런 멋진 의상들이 가상 공간에 존재한다는 사실에 아쉬워했습니다. ‘이 환상적인 의상들을 현실에서 만날 수 있다면 얼마나 좋을까?’ 저는 이 바람을 실현하고 싶었고, 꿈을 이루기 위한 파트너로 제가 사랑하는 인형들을 선택했습니다.
인형은 인류의 역사와 함께 해 온 유구한 예술작품이며, 소유자의 염원을 담은 창작물입니다. 사람의 형상을 닮았지만 사실적인 인체 표현에 구애받지 않고, 인간과 동행하는 존재이지만 동시에 인간의 세계를 초월할 수 있는 오브제입니다. 인형의 의상 역시 사람의 의상을 모방하는데서 출발하지만, 사람의 의상이 가진 한계를 넘어 새로운 가능성을 제시할 수 있습니다. 그렇다면, 의상이 표현할 수 있는 꿈의 한계는 어디까지 일까요? ‘인형의상’이라는 키워드가 한계가 아닌 가능성으로 다가왔을 때, 이 아득한 질문과 함께 여행을 떠나기로 결심했습니다.

많은 사람들이 우리의 고향인 별을 그리워합니다. 그 그리움이 태양계의 행성과 별들에 신의 이름을 붙였고, 인간세계를 넘은 우주에까지 꿈의 지표가 빛나게 만들었습니다. 직접 그 먼 곳에 갈 수는 없더라도 우리의 꿈이라면 다가갈 수 있지 않을까요? 우리의 예술이 그것을 해낼 수 있지 않을까요? “Black Saturn”은 이러한 희망에서 출발했습니다. 인간과 화합하는 인외적 존재들, 만물의 근원인 우주의 색과 아름다운 별들, 그리고 평생동안 사랑해 온 의상을 통해 제가 가진 꿈들을 보여드리고자 합니다.
